The Denver Outlaws defeated the Rochester Rattlers 12-9 on Saturday afternoon in Rochester. The Outlaws won their 11th game of the season and their 17th straight regular season game.
Denver got out to a quick start in the early game, with a 2-point goal from Jeremy Sieverts. The Outlaws led the Rattlers 5-2 after the first period with additional goals from Terry Kimener, Brendan Mundorf and Eric Law.
The Outlaws slowed in the second quarter, only getting a pair of goals from Chris Bocklet. The Rattlers answered with 3 goals of their own and brought the score to 7-5 at halftime.
The Outlaws got a quick goal in the 2nd half, the hat trick for Bocklet for his 35th goal of the season. The Outlaws would stretch their lead to 5 with goals from Turri and Pennington, but didn't score in the last 10 minutes of the 3rd quarter. Rochester answered with 2 goals to bring the score to 10-7 after 3 quarters.
The fourth quarter was a nail-biter for Outlaws fans, as the Rattlers scored the first 2 goals of the quarter to bring Rochester within 1. Mundorf ended the Rattlers 4 goal run and the Outlaws scoring drought with a goal with 9:52 to play in the game to bring the score to 11-9. Outlaws goalie Jesse Schwartzman played the rest of the quarter flawlessly and had some big saves to secure the Oultaws win. The Outlaws finished with an easy goal for Kimener to bring the final score to 12-9 and maintain the Outlaws perfect season thus far.
The Outlaws will return to Denver for their final home game next Saturday at 12pm MDT. The Outlaws will face the defending champions Chesapeake Bayhawks. With a Hamilton loss this week or an Outlaws win next week, Denver will secure the number 1 seed in the playoffs. For tickets to next week's game versus the Bayhawks at Sports Authority, click here.
