Seven Outlaws to Play in MLL All-Star Game

Eight Outlaws were invited to play in the 2013 MLL All-Star Game on July 13 at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The 38 participants in the annual event were selected through a balloting process by league coaches and general managers.Denver is tied with Chesapeake for the most All-Star selections in the league. 

The winners of the MLL Fan Fantasy Contest, 15-year-old Frank Ranfone and 17-year-old Cameron Mackenzie, will divide the players into two teams. Twelve All-Stars will take part in the Halftime Skills Competition, which will feature Fastest Shot, Long-Distance Accuracy, and Freestyle contests. Jeremy Sieverts will go up against Ohio’s Kyle Hartzell, Chesapeake’s Steven Brooks, and Rochester’s Michael Manley in the Fastest Shot contest, and Chris Bocklet will compete against Hamilton’s Brodie Merrill, Chesapeake’s Kip Turner, and Charlotte’s Ryan Flanagan in the Long-Distance Accuracy competition. All players participating in the All-Star Game will wear specially-designed jerseys that will be auctioned off following the matchup. The proceeds will go toward the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the 2013 All-Star Game’s charity. 

The eight Outlaws chosen to participate are:

Lee Zink - The reigning Warrior Defensive Player of the Year, Zink will be appearing in the All-Star Game for his seventh consecutive year. He has shut down some of the leading scorers in the league this season, and the Outlaws have benefited from his veteran leadership.

Jesse Schwartzman – Schwartzman will be making the trip to the All-Star Game for the sixth straight time, the most of any goalie in MLL history. Ranked first in the league in goals-against average, he anchors Denver’s defensive unit.

Jeremy Sieverts – Sieverts will be playing in his second All-Star Game. He ranks fifth among all the midfielders in the league in total points and was named the MLL Most Improved Player last year.

Chris Bocklet – With 33 tallies on the season, Bocklet leads the league in goals scored. The attackman has recorded three sock tricks this year.

Drew Snider – Snider ranks fifth in the league in total points with 35. The midfielder has registered 25 goals and nine assists this year.

Zack Greer – Greer is in his first season with the Outlaws. Also a member of the NLL’s Edmonton Rush, the attackman has tallied 14 goals and nine assists this season.

Anthony Kelly – Kelly is one of two faceoff specialists selected to play in the All-Star Game. He ranks third in the league in faceoff percentage.

Brendan Mundorf - The reigning MLL MVP, Mundorf is ranked fourth in the MLL in point total. The attackman will not be appearing in the game due to a prior commitment.

Presented by Moe’s Southwest Grill, the MLL All-Star Game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 5:00 p.m. MDT on July 13.
