DENVER – The Denver Outlaws acquired midfielder Dan Groot from Rochester in exchange for defenseman M.J. Kiekebelt, the team announced on Monday.
“Bringing a player on board with the experience of Dan Groot is a great acquisition for the team.” Outlaws General Manager Tony Seaman said. “Dan is a terrific transition player and someone that can help impact our team."
Groot is entering his sixth Major League Lacrosse season in 2014, and has totaled 12 goals with eight assists for 20 points to go with 78 ground balls in his first five seasons with Washington (2009), Denver (2010), Rochester (2011, ’13) and Ohio (2012).
A two-time American at the University of Maryland, Groot is currently an assistant coach at Rhodes College.
Kiekebelt, is entering his third MLL season in 2014, and has scored two goals, including a two-pointer with 24 ground balls in his first two seasons with Hamilton. He is currently an assistant coach at Cornell.
